Heather Avis, founder and Chief Visionary Officer of The Lucky Few, is a New York Times bestselling author, award-winning podcaster, public speaker, and advocate for the inclusion of individuals with Down syndrome. Her advocacy began in 2008
after adopting her daughter Macyn, who has Down syndrome, inspiring a popular blog and Instagram account (@theluckyfewofficial). Based in Southern California with her husband Josh, their three children, and two Goldendoodles, Heather focuses on promoting acceptance and inclusive spaces through storytelling and public engagement.

The Lucky Few Foundation is the nonprofit arm of The Lucky Few, (click on link for additional information), a national Down syndrome advocacy organization. The foundation ensures that family members, friends, and loved ones of a person with Down syndrome have the opportunity to share what it means to be part of “the lucky few,” and everyone else has the opportunity to access it.
