President’s Message
Since you have found the Website of the
Westside Newcomers Club (WNC), I hope this means that, among
other things, you are looking for a friend. If so, you are
in the right place because friendship is the corner stone of
our organization. In fact, our stated purpose reads: “to
provide a pleasant and friendly social environment for
newcomers to the Las Vegas area to establish new
friendships”.
WNC is strictly a social club for
women. It was founded in 1992 by four ladies who were also
looking to form friendships. It’s not easy moving to a new
area, meeting people, finding a good hair dresser, doctor,
plumber, etc. And each member has already been through this
and is anxious to make your transition easier.
On the first Wednesday of each month, we
host a New Member Coffee which is
held at the Sahara West Library, located at 9600 West Sahara Avenue.
The meeting starts at 9:30am and runs for approximately one hour
with the opportunity to linger & mingle over coffee and
snacks. This will afford you time to learn about the
over twenty exciting activities that we offer. The ladies that Chair these activities will first give you a
brief description of what they do, then they will be available to answer any questions you may have. Check
the listing of “Activity Groups”
that is a part of this Website; I am sure more than one that
will spark your interest. Then try a number of them to find
the perfect fit. And when attending an activity, I
encourage you to approach members and let them know that you
are a new member so you will be given the recognition you
deserve.
On the second Wednesday of each month,
we hold our Luncheon/General Meeting
at various venues throughout the city; a great opportunity
for you to locate some fun places to revisit. Our luncheons
always include an interesting program. A few of our
favorites include our annual fashion show, an address by Las
Vegas’ Mayor and a holiday party.
I sincerely hope that I will have the
opportunity to meet you very soon and that WNC will make
your life in Las Vegas a treasured one.
Of all the means to insure happiness
